What are the benefits of Turmeric?

1. Perfect in curry dishes

Turmeric is the spice that gives curry it’s distinct yellow colour. It can be added to curries along with black pepper, which helps your body to absorb the curcumin.

When cooking rice, a teaspoon of turmeric powder can be added to the pot along with a stick of cinnamon and some cardamom pods.

Fresh turmeric can be chopped into fine pieces and then placed into the freezer to keep in easy batches.

2. Antioxidants

The main active ingredient in turmeric is ‘Curcumin’, which is a very strong antioxidant. It helps to consume a bit of black pepper with turmeric to ensure that the curcumin is adequately absorbed into your system.

When making a cup of tea, try adding a few thinly sliced pieces of fresh turmeric along with some ginger and lemon.
